Why leather?
Real leather is a natural product. It breathes, is warm and has individual characteristics which make each hide unique.
The physical properties which make leather a unique and valuable material for upholstery purposes include high tensile strength and good heat insulation. So leather is warm in winter and cool in summer. Leather is also resistant to many elements including; tearing, flexing, puncture, wet and dry abrasion, fire, fungi and chemical attack. Leather can be moulded and will retain its new shape. It has both elastic and plastic properties in wear.
Muirhead offers a collection of six standard ranges of performance upholstery leathers with the lowest carbon footprint of any leather maker in the world. This comprehensive choice of over 140 colours and specifications are all available from stock for quick delivery.
Stock ranges represent only a small part of Muirhead's manufacturing capability. If you have a bespoke colour you would like to match, simply send a sample or colour reference such as Pantone, Dulux, or RAL and Muirhead's colour lab will match it exactly. A perforation pattern can also be applied to any of Muirhead leathers. There are also available other special stock finishes.
